Our award winning bike safety program was developed especially for children to educate them on proper bike safety skills, with some bike maintenance tips thrown in for good measure. After calling our office to schedule a visit, your class will receive an envelope containing blank bike licenses for your students or their parents to fill out, as well as safe biking information sheets for you to review with your class. This is to ensure that your class will be totally prepared when we arrive to present the program. Much like our own adult drivers license, children complete an oral test on bike safety questions based on the information from sheets
furnished. Please note, this testing is done in groups, in a very easy
going manner. We want to make sure the children are comfortable and enjoy this program, while still seeing what  a serious responsibility safe biking is. Next the children are asked to ride through an obstacle course so we can see if they can safely maneuver their bike. If a child is not able to ride alone, one of our coordinators will give them some help. Our main goal wit this program is to properly prepare them to ride safely and responsibly. Once the children have completed the course, they are issued a laminated photo I.D. Biker's License on a chain. This program is currently being offered to Kindergarten through Grade 6. It can also be adapted for younger children. To schedule this program please calls 570-347-2358 or seatbeltsam@lackawannacounty.org.
